History of CEF in Europe

Since 1947 when five missionaries arrived in Europe from USA, the work has grown to become one of the largest missions serving throughout the continent.

Over 440 staff workers are assisted by many thousands of volunteer teachers and committee members.  A CEF ministry exists in 34 countries of which eight are completely autonomous and members of CEF on Nations.  It is encouraging to know that over 400,000 children learn of the Saviour each year through all forms of outreach.  Hundreds of Christians attend Teacher Training Courses and CEF teaching materials are available in 29 languages.  CEF is committed to taking the wonderful message of the Gospel to all children.

The CEF headquarters for Europe is at Kilchzimmer in Switzerland, where each year two Leadership Training Institutes are held.  Extension institutes are held in other countries.  The Multimedia Department is continually developing new teaching and training materials.

While there is much to thank God for in the growth of CEF ministries, still today countless thousands of children across Europe grow up not hearing of the Lord Jesus Christ and His salvation.  Materialism is the spirit of the age, leaving no room for God.

Many more workers are needed in every country but especially we are asking God to provide missionaries for Belgium, Britain, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, and the CIS.  In Eastern Europe many national workers are ready to serve, but need financial help from other countries.

Major projects include

distributing 20 million tracts in 28 languages to children in Eastern Europe and providing Bible correspondence course lessons as follow-up.

completing work on camp centers in Portugal, Ireland, and Belgium.

developing more outreach to children through Good News Clubs®, 5-Day Clubs®, Camps, etc.

refurbishing CEF offices in Poland, Romania and Russia.

training more national believers in child evangelism through “Teaching Children Effectively™ Courses”
